Protection & Policy

Insurance,
claims & refunds.

Every Corvex Logistics consignment is handled with audited care. Here is what our coverage covers, how to file a claim, and our cancellation and refund policy.

What We Cover

Four layers of cargo protection.

Coverage is arranged through licensed underwriters in Uganda and Kenya. All policies are available for client review on request.

Road & Rail Transit Insurance

All-risk cargo cover for mineral consignments transported on all active corridors: Northern Corridor (Kampala–Mombasa), Central Corridor (Kampala–Dar es Salaam), Sudan / South Sudan Corridor (Kampala–Juba via Nimule), and Ethiopia Corridor (via Nairobi–Moyale). Coverage activates at the moment goods are loaded onto our convoy vehicle and remains active until handover at the destination port.

Covered risks: theft, road accident, fire, vehicle rollover, flooding, and border-crossing delay exceeding 72 hours due to force majeure. Exclusions: inherent mineral degradation, radioactive material, and contraband.

Included in all road freight contracts

Air Freight Insurance

Specialist high-value all-risk cover for gold doré, refined bars, and certified gemstones transported via Entebbe International Airport. Coverage includes armoured ground transfer from our bonded warehouse to the cargo terminal, airside handling, in-flight, and final-mile armoured delivery to the consignee.

Minimum declared value for air cargo policies: USD 50,000. Maximum single-consignment cover: USD 5,000,000. Valuation based on the LBMA AM fix on the date of departure. Third-party assay certificate required for claims.

Arranged per consignment · Declared value basis

Bonded Storage Insurance

Goods held in our Kampala bonded warehouse are covered under a blanket storage policy issued by our underwriter. Coverage runs from the moment goods enter the bonded facility to the moment they are loaded onto a transit vehicle or collected by the client.

Covered risks: theft, fire, flood, structural collapse, and power-loss spoilage for temperature-sensitive mineral samples. 24-hour CCTV and dual-custody access logs maintained as standard. Storage documentation provided on request.

Included for all bonded storage clients

Mine-Gate Collection Cover

Cover for goods from the point of collection at the mine or ASM site through to arrival at our Kampala bonded warehouse. This is the highest-risk transit segment, remote roads, variable vehicle conditions, and limited emergency infrastructure.

All collection vehicles are GPS-tracked and armed. An incident report must be filed within 48 hours of any loss or damage event for a claim to be valid. Coverage limits are stated in the collection service agreement signed at engagement.

Claims Process

How to file a claim in four steps.

Claims must be initiated within 48 hours of a loss or damage event. Late notifications may limit our ability to investigate and may affect the claim outcome.

01

Report the Incident

Contact our operations desk within 48 hours by phone (+256 708 647 752) or email (trade@corvexlogistic.com). Provide your CVX tracking number, a description of the loss or damage, and the approximate time and location of the incident.

02

Submit Documentation

Within 5 business days, submit: your original consignment note, weigh-bill and assay certificate (if applicable), photographs of damage, a police abstract report for theft or road incidents, and a written loss statement. Our claims team will acknowledge within 24 hours of receipt.

03

Assessment & Survey

Our underwriter will appoint an independent surveyor within 3 business days. The surveyor may request access to the remaining goods, GPS logs, CCTV footage, and driver statements. Assessment normally completes within 5–7 business days of survey appointment.

04

Settlement

Approved claims are settled in USD within 14 business days of written approval from the underwriter. Payment is made by bank transfer to the account stated on your Corvex Logistics client agreement. Partial settlements may be offered where liability is shared or disputed.

What to do immediately after an incident: Do not move or dispose of damaged goods until the surveyor has inspected them. Photograph everything, the container, seals, goods, and surroundings. If the incident involves theft or a road accident, obtain a police abstract before the convoy departs the scene. Failure to preserve evidence may void the claim.

Common Questions

Insurance & refund FAQ.

All Corvex Logistics road freight, air freight, and bonded storage contracts include a base level of cargo cover as standard. The cover limits are specified in your service agreement. Clients may arrange supplementary cover through their own insurer for consignments exceeding the standard policy limits. We will provide all necessary documentation to support this.
The minimum required documents are: (1) your original Corvex Logistics consignment note with CVX tracking number, (2) the weigh-bill signed at collection, (3) an assay certificate or grade report where applicable, (4) photographs of any damaged goods and packaging, (5) a police abstract report for theft or road accident incidents, and (6) a written statement describing the loss. Additional documents may be requested by the surveyor.
For gold doré and gold bars, the declared value is based on the LBMA AM fix on the date the consignment was collected. For other minerals, the value is based on the LME price for the relevant metal on the collection date, applied to the quantity confirmed on the third-party assay certificate or weigh-bill. Where a third-party assay was not conducted, grade and quantity on the weigh-bill signed at collection are used.
Yes. Theft is covered under the transit policy for the full declared value of the consignment, provided the incident is reported within 48 hours, a police abstract is obtained at the scene, and the GPS logs from the convoy vehicle are preserved and shared. The underwriter will conduct an investigation before approving any claim related to theft in transit.
Customs delays caused by documentation errors on Corvex Logistics's part — incorrect permits, missing signatures, or misfiled certificates — will be resolved by Corvex Logistics at no additional charge and are covered under our service guarantee. Delays caused by government policy changes, border closures, force majeure, or errors in the client's own documents are not covered by Corvex Logistics's service guarantee, though our team will work to resolve them as quickly as possible. Detention and demurrage charges arising from such delays are the client's responsibility unless specifically agreed otherwise in the service contract.
Yes, but cancellation at this stage is complex. Government fees already paid to DGSM or URA are generally non-recoverable. We will advise you on what has been submitted and what costs have been committed at the time of your cancellation request. The Corvex Logistics service fee may be partially refunded depending on the volume of work completed. We recommend contacting the trade desk as early as possible so we can minimise costs before further submissions are made.
From the date of your initial incident report: acknowledgement within 24 hours, surveyor appointment within 3 business days, assessment complete within 5–7 business days of survey, and approved claims settled within 14 business days of written approval. Complex cases involving disputed liability, large values, or cross-border incidents may take longer. We will keep you informed of the status at every stage.
